Posted on behalf of Edward Ricks, CIO, Beaufort Memorial Hospital
I’ve got to say Beaufort Memorial Hospital (BMH) has always been pretty progressive in terms of an Information Technology perspective. Over the past few years, we’ve realized one of the common pitfalls of any IT department, which is thinking you’re prepared.
The reality of downtime happening at any moment is sometimes filtered by a false sense of security. The fact is that downtime, both planned and unplanned can cause not only hassle, but also a reduction in patient safety and care. Being located on the coast, natural disasters are a real cause for concern for us. These situations are impossible to prevent but through the use of the Summit Downtime Reporting System (DRS) we are able to access and push out any critical care data.
With the implementation of the Summit Downtime Reporting System we are confidently able to say “we’re ready”. We’ve got technology in place to face any type of downtime that might come our way.
I will be hosting a webcast this week on business continuity strategies and our disaster recovery plan for those of you who would like to learn more about our plan, and the technology we have in place.
Please click on the link below to sign up for the webcast. I hope to see you there!
