Summit CE to Enable MU Stage Two Transition of Care Data Exchange/Direct Messaging

Braintree, Mass.,– Summit Healthcare, a leading provider of healthcare system integration technologies, today announced an expanded partnership with Capital Region Medical Center, a 100-bed, full-service facility in Missouri. Capital Region Medical Center (CRMC) is a full-service hospital, with an extensive clinic system of urgent care centers, specialty physician practices and one of the few accredited rehabilitation centers in the state.

As CRMC began to focus their efforts on Meaningful Use Stage 2, in particular the Transition of Care requirement, they saw the need for a flexible, turn-key solution to enable this level of integration.

Capital Region Medical Center, a Summit Healthcare integration client since 2006 selected Summit Care Exchange to enable their CCD integration and Direct Messaging.

The Summit Care Exchange technology with an integrated Direct Messaging/HISP capability will securely support their Transition of Care requirements with their extended healthcare community.  Phase one will be to provide communication with Capital Region Physician clinics which currently run the eClinicalWorks EMR, while phase two will be to communicate with other regional health care providers, Long Term Care Facilities and Home Health agencies.  The integrated capabilities of a HISP/Direct Messaging available in Summit Care Exchange was vital in their selection as it opens up more communication methods with their extended healthcare community.

The decision to choose Summit Healthcare was a relatively easy one as CRMC has been a long standing integration client that currently leverages the Summit Express Connect interface engine and Summit Provider Exchange for bi-directional physician office integration.  Summit Care Exchange emerged quickly as a viable option once CRMC saw the scalability and flexibility of the technology to support multiple CCD integration topologies, the ease of deployment, and the ability to support bi-directional integration to consume CCDA’s within their EHR. Capital Region has a target date of April 1, 2014 for live attestation, with all direct messaging protocols in place as well.
