What to Expect During Regression Testing for MPF 16.1

McKesson was on site last week for regresson testing getting us ready to upgrade to MPF version 16.1.  We had the best time with the applicaton and tech person from McKesson who was here with us on site.  They made it fun and interesting and even learned a few things we didn’t know from the previous two versions.  On a Health Information Management side I will kind of give an overview of some new things and things that will be the same with the upgrade.

We didn’t realize until last week that your admin users will be using a duel system until version 16.2.  User profiles, document types, and passwords will still be done on the MPF workstation.  When 16.2 comes out the workstation will go away and everyone will use the new MPF called One Content.  Also when version 16.2 comes out passwords will be run off of the ADT so no more resetting passwords it will be done through the IT department.  I don't know about anybody else, but I get tired of resetting passwords over and over again.

Nothing has changed in the MPF workstation.  It is all the same so you can still use it and it will talk to One Content and it will have the same information.  I would advise you go ahead and use One Content as much as possible to get used to it because in 16.2 there are no more workstations.  One Content will be your EMR system and it is web based.  No more java!!!  There are no changes in Webstation for Physicians other than it connecting to One Content instead of HPF.  There are no changes in DCS/QCI.

So let’s talk about One Content.  It basically does all the same functions as HPF does now with the exception of user profiles, document types, and passwords for now.  It has a totally different look and it’s a little more user friendly.    There are a few new changes that we love.  One being that you can search for a patient by encounter, first name, last name, DOB, or SSN without having to use last name and another search criteria.  For example if all you have is a DOB it will pull up all patients with that DOB.  Currently in ADI (adjust document indexing) you can only move one document at a time, but in 16.1 you can move a whole section at a time.

So as you can see only a few changes going into 16.1 until we upgrade to 16.2.  Hope this helps anyone who is getting ready to upgrade to 16.1.  If you have any queustions that I can help with as you upgrade just send me a message.
