Summit Healthcare, a leader in healthcare system integration announces a new partnership with Nexus Health Systems, a four facility specialized health system that offers long term acute care, pediatric specialty acute care and neurobehavioral rehabilitation.
Nexus Health Systems selected a primary healthcare information system and will be converting paper based systems this spring. To meet the integration demands of ancillary systems and to further support transitions of care collaboration, Nexus Health Systems selected the Summit Express Connect interface technology as their backbone of integration.
While their HCIS provides a tightly integrated EMR there are still countless integration demands that Nexus Health Systems realized early on during their planning and preparation stages. With the goal to further improve patient care and to meet operational requirements, integration had to be a priority. As a unique health system providing specialized care, Nexus Health System's interaction with medical providers and the collaboration between clinicians demanded a tight integration strategy while ensuring the hospital system operated in a fiscally responsible manner.
"Moving to our new HCIS system, it became obvious that we needed to have a stable and scalable integration environment in place to manage our integration needs today and in the future," said Deepak Chaudhry, VP Information Systems, Nexus Health Systems. "Taking this into consideration, planning for future interoperability needs and industry regulations, we began looking at interface engine technology options. With a unique makeup of long term post-acute and pediatric facilities we needed a technology partner that would provide robust technology, excellent support and who also demonstrated a deep integration knowledge with our chosen HCIS. We are pleased with our selection of Summit Healthcare and look forward to a long partnership."
Nexus Health Systems will be using the Summit Express Connect interface engine to connect its HCIS system to third party vendor systems like 3M, Quest Laboratory, Glucometer patient care devices and Microsoft Dynamic Great Plains accounting software. This level of integration will yield immediate return on investment as they control interface costs through elimination of duplicate interface feeds and redundant maintenance costs. This level of integration will lay the foundation for future goals such as state/federal reporting, connection to health information exchanges and working toward meaningful use achievement.
"Summit Healthcare is happy to play such an important role in Nexus Health Systems integration strategy as they begin their EMR journey," said Ted Rossi, CEO of Summit Healthcare. "We take great pride in our integration and experience, and will be here to support Nexus Health Systems as their integration partner."
